bareMinerals by Bare Essentials

As I have stated previously, I consider myself a make-up expert. After 35 years of investigative research and enthusiastic use, I am comfortable with this claim. Imagine then my extreme horror and humiliation when last year, in my 34th year of specializing in this area, a male friend looked at me across the dinner table with a scrunched up look on his face. I of course thought I had something dangling off my teeth or worse yet my nose, but instead he said, 'you're make-up is really bad'. (It is a testimony to my ability to forgive that this man is still a friend). At that moment, while choking back tears (how long did I take to get ready for that dinner, an hour??), I summoned up the incredible courage to say, 'what do you mean by that?' He pointed to my cheeks and nose area which of course I knew meant that his concern was with my foundation, versus say my eye shadow, mascara, lip liner, lipstick, etc. 'What is wrong with it?", I asked. 'It is so cake-y', he said. Well, I was flabbergasted. What was wrong with this idiot? I am a make-up expert for heaven's sake. What did he know that I didn't?

This is the worst part of all. When I got home I put on my readers and looked at my foundation with some much needed magnification. Good gracious, he was right. The stuff I was using was a well known, NOT cheap, high coverage foundation. But I saw what he saw. Little hills and valleys of putty. Not a good look.

This led me to ask a friend who has the most beautiful complexion ever what foundation she used. I anticipated her to say she didn't wear anything because he skin looks so flawless. Instead she told me used bareMinerals. Bummer, I thought to myself. Mineral powder would never cover up my reddish, blotchy skin. Always open minded however, I stopped by their store in the mall and bought a starter kit. OK...this is powerful proof that we are never too old to learn new tricks. This make-up is amazing. It gives more coverage, in the most non cake-y way, and stays on ALL day, and for me, that means night too since I don't take it off before bed (see Cetaphil posting below). bareMinerals by Bare Essentials. Go test it out before someone tells you, 'You're make-up looks bad.' For the best anti-aging look possible, couple bareMinerals with a pair of Solmates Sunreaders available at http://www.solmatesreaders.com/.
