It has been awhile...

WOW! I was sitting here at the computer thinking how long it has been since we have posted something out here in blogland. And while I was thinking my 15 year old walked into my office and said, "I think I am going to buy a Zune." I am not really sure what a Zune is, but I am aware of it enough to know that it is kind of like an I-Touch, which he purchased about 2 months ago for what seemed to me a lot of money for a kind of a frill. Sorry if I sound like the child of a child of the Depression, but I don't think the need to watch movies while you are waiting for your mother to pick you up from school is really a necessity. Besides that, he hasn't had a chance to lose it yet! Anyway, after I expressed my strong opinion about his trial balloon, I got to thinking about the permanence of things and planned obsolescence. I got a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that SolMates SunReaders are styled in a way that never goes out of fashion and that the practicality of the lenses is always useful. And they help me see the tiny letters on MY Zune!

The Bomb of Teeth Whiteners

Every now and then Liz and I like to dispense beauty secrets useful for the over 40 market, i.e. baby boomers, who buy our sunglasses. Most of us in this age bracket have carmel colored teeth stained from too much coffee, red wine, and other stuff.

We have all seen people; from movie stars to regular folks, who have pearly white teeth. Quite frankly, it takes several years off and gives the appearance of a fresh palate!

Liz and I are fans of Crest White Strips, which really work, but they are to be worn while sleeping and I am not a fan of anything that wakes me in the middle of night. When the little strips shrivel up around 3:00 AM, I do wake up and tear the plastic pieces off my teeth. Finally, another alternative: Rembrandt Stain Removal Toothpaste. Used for about a week straight this paste whitens teeth, without the hassle of the little strips.

I know it works because when I stopped by my favorite neighborhood Starbucks alternative, Coffee and Cream, the owner asked me how I get my teeth so white. I shared my secret and he was off to purchase a tube! The results are almost instant, which is my favorite kind of gratification.

So when you buy your no line progressive sunglasses, go get a tube of Rembrandt Stain Removal toothpaste. When you smile at yourself in your new shades, your bright teeth won't blind you.

Happy Customer Returns from Hawaii

As Cathy and I brace ourselves for a Global Warming Winter (which really seem snowier, don't they?) we enjoyed receiving this email from our new friend Cathy who just returned from Hawaii with her SolMates SunReaders:

"Hello Cathy, I just wanted to let you know that the sun readers worked out great for vacation. My husband will be ordering a pair of sun readers after his eye appointment in January. Thanks for the great product. I had no problem with the bifocal at all. Later, Cathy"

Great to know that even when we can't get to warmer climes, our glasses can.

AOPA, Thank you!

Cathy and I sold our bifocal sunglasses at the annual AOPA meeting last weekend at San Jose. We had a lot of fun talking to pilots, who know how to tell a story (must be that sense of adventure), and helping them choose the best frame, lens type and tint for their flying needs. One of our internet customers, Steve, came by and bought 2 more pairs!
Our customers gave us alot of good ideas and we look forward to next year's AOPA meeting in Tampa.

Meet Marion

When you receive your Solmates in the mail, know that they have been carefully inspected and mailed by this gorgeous gal, Marion. She is wearing our Rehoboth frame and although she looks like a teenager she is actually part of the over 40 crowd. I have been trying to get a picture of her forever but she claims she is not photogenic. Obviously not the case!!!!

Fanmail from Jethro in Montana

Hey guys,

Just got back from my first real trip with my SolMates lenses intact. Quite a successful trip and never had to bother with magnifiers.

Here is a pic of me with a fat 17 inch rainbow trout from the famous Madison River in Montana...fly tied on quite easily but fish put up quite a fight for its size (I was sure she was at least 20 inches!)

Thanks for the great product...

Cheers....

This customer gets a 50% discount of his next pair of SolMates. You can too if you send us a picture. That is a bargain!!

Design Your Own

Sometimes customers ask us which frames are our favorites. The truth is we love them all and labored over each and every one in our collection.

We also recognize that for most of us, sunglasses are a fashion accessory like a favorite necklace or sweater. So, if you want us to put our lenses in your favorite frames, just send them to us. We can fit them with our lenses and create for you the ultimate Solmate sunglasses. That creates endless opportunities to design your own pair of glasses. For this type of order, you will need to call us at 513-460-1451 (Cathy) or 513-600-7895 (Liz) and we will take your order over the phone.
