Swim to Me--But Does It Float?

One of the little books that you see on the Amazon Widget (and please feel free to click on the Widget and buy something from Amazon, they just sent us an email asking us what was wrong with our site and why no one was buying)is Swim to Me. A book about a Girl With A Dream. Our heroine, at the age of 13, is brought by her parents to Wickee Wachee for a mermaid show in what was pre-Disney Florida. She is so moved by the experience that she swears that as God is Her Witness, she will be a mermaid in the same show. Then some bad stuff happens, her father leaves her mother, she is in Junior High which is an ugly experience even in the best of circumstances. So, she writes a letter to the Mermaid show and requests an audition, which she gets, and she is chosen.
What I absolutely loved about the book was the description of how she felt in the water, and the whole swimming exhibition experience. The only place I have ever felt graceful was in the water. I too, was a synchronized swimmer in high school and briefly in college before it interrupted my social life.
A very easy read, no challenges but it is a sweet story.
