Run by Ann Patchett

This is a beautiful story about 9 people in Boston who are unknowingly bound by birth and circumstance. Like Bel Canto, which examined the evolution of captive and captor, and how they became alike over time, Run takes the differences between rich and poor, black and white and looks at them under a microscope so closely until the lines of delineation and preconception are blurred and all that is left is love.
I read this book in three sittings, about 5 hours, because I could not get enough of the story, the connections between the characters as they revealed themselves, and the bittersweet outcome. When I grow up, I decided, I want to be a writer like Ann Patchett. For now, however, I am just a grateful reader.
