Fall is in the Air

Every now and then I have to promote a product other than SolMates. So, here is my favorite fashion find for the fall. This is a shirt from Jonnie Boden, http://www.bodenusa.com/. It is a shirt that lives up to its description on their web-site. I was sold on it for its fun picture and mostly the customer reviews. I know that company's don't post the bad reviews that customers give a product but I am a sucker for salepersonship, and the reviews sold me on this shirt. I was not disappointed. It comes in so many happy patterns. Pick the best pickmeup print for you and wear it with pleasure. The sleeves roll up just right so that it doesn't look limp and the best part, of course, is that it can go from dryer to use without ironing. Get one and enjoy. Perfect with your favorite pair of jeans and well OK, your Solmates of course.

SolMates SunReaders Finish Triathlon!

To celebrate all things athletic, just wanted to let you know that our Solmates (the Cape Cod, to be exact) finished a triathlon on the nose of our friend Lauri. Not only did she look fantastic, but she was able to see her digital watch with her bifocal sunglass lenses. Here is Lauri's quote from the finish line, "Hi Cathy and Liz, I just wanted you to know how much I appreciated the quick turn around time for my sunglasses (replacing the pair I’d lost). I got them just in time for my last Triathlon….I love you guys and I don’t go anywhere without my Solmates."

Way to go Lauri!

Today is the Day

Well, today is the day my kids (see above) arrive home from camp after 6 weeks away. They will be delivered home by their father eta 6:00ish. I have been looking forward to that time for 6 weeks. Needless to say, I will be galloping out to the car to embrace them and anticipate along with this pleasure 20 loads of laundry, requests for meals, and gently reminding them that yes, they do have to got to bed at a reasonable hour. I also anticipate they will be very sweet and lovable for perhaps the remainder of the evening. Tomorrow morning we will back on the 'schedule' and my gas tank will once again be screaming for fuel on a much more regular basis as we begin football, tutoring, activities, birthday celebrations, and everything else that makes a single mom exhausted.

That is all OK though, because while the break from them was peaceful, I am needing to get back to motherhood. Liz, please remind me of this about Wednesday of this week when my daily mantra kicks in that goes something like this, 'I am a single Mom doing the best I can'. (If you are a single Mom, I recommend using this to get out of any little mix-up.) Traffic cops especially.

P.S. I am wearing in this picture the Fleming Sunglass model. One of my favorites and looks great on men too.

Budapest Black Beauty

This babe in Budapest was wild over her SolMates but this is one face we couldn't quite fit.
Rest assured however, if you are checking out a couple of pairs of frames and can't decide, Liz and I love to help in the selection process. We are happy to send you a few pairs to try, or if you call us and tell us a little about your face shape etc., we are pretty good at fitting the right frame over the phone.
In the event you decide the frame is not a good fit...you can return them. Or, you can exchange them. Our customers fall in love with the lenses so we work hard to make sure you get the right frame for your face as well.
We are very enthusiastic about working with you to get you exactly the right pair. Check out our Fan Mail in our web-site and see what our customers have to say.
Or put us to the test and see for yourself. Get it? SEE!! (the fine print)

The Cape Cod Sunglass Frame

Here is another beauty from Berlin. She is wearing a black Cape Cod but this pair of glasses, like the Fleming, look great on females and males. She instantly fell in love with them and if she could update that hair style she would look like a million bucks!

The Fleming Sunglass Frame

Liz and I have taken great care to pick sunglass frames that universally seem to look good on most people, male or female. Don't ask us how we do it. It is just something we are really good at and it is a handy skill set considering our business! Recently on a vacation in Eastern Europe I tested this philosophy with a several models, none of which charged us anything for the shoot. This is a man, he was famous of course but I forget his name, wearing a pair of tortoise Flemings with a brown tint. He said he could see his cell phone so much easier with his SolMates. You can visit him at the palace in Prague!

Another Customer Speaks (well, writes)

I can't tell you how many times my solmates have saved the day when I could'nt locate one of my hundreds of pair of dime store readers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

E.J. St, Petersburg FL

Thank you, E., it just goes to show you that you get what you pay for and when you pay for the quality and performance that Solmates represents, you tend to hang on to the glasses a little longer.

A Little Something for Someone Else for a Change

As we sit in front of computers blogging and googling away, we might lose sight of the fact that many people are lost in the technological shuffle because they cannot read. To Cathy and me, one of the greatest poverties in the world is the inability to read. As you might have discovered on our website, we started SolMates SunReaders (www.solmatesreaders.com) because of our love of books and our inability to read ALL THE TIME, EVEN WHEN WE ARE OUTSIDE. And so, despite the fact that we are still a fledgling company, we decided to make a contribution to the Literacy Network of Cincinnati. And it feels really good.
